The funeral of Robert Williams was held on Monday October 26th. Our chair Alison remembers him fondly;

Rob was an old member of East Cheshire Combined Training Group, and East Cheshire Pony Club. He was an active member of the pony club in his youth representing in both horse trials and dressage, show jumping was never his forte!!! He was on the event team who qualified for the championships at Stoneleigh in 1976 with myself, Peter Gleave and Michael Richardson, the team finishing 5th.
We both joined East Cheshire Combined Training Group and he competed for many years with his wife Marie. He was very much involved in pony club with his children Becky and Tom and the mounted games teams.
Rob played golf, skied, rode horses and bikes, ran his own business (he printed our programme!) was great fun to be around, a real gent and a lovely friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marie, Becky and Tom at this time, Rob your children are such a credit to you and Marie. God bless X

Sunday 25th August – combined training and separate dressage and jumping classes. A combined training entry constitutes entry to the separate dressage/jumping classes too, plus you may enter just dressage or just jumping etc.

The ECCTG Endurance team of Pat Guerin (Chef d’equipe), Jean Spearing, Joy Toomer and Jane Wyatt have continued their great run of success with a win at the most important event of the year – the national championships. Full report of the event is available here – well done team!

***SOCIAL EVENING*** 17th October, 7.30pm at Smallwood Primary School.

European CIC** silver medallist Tyler Cassells and BRC National Chairman Andrew Chadwick will be entertaining us all with an insight into their recent trip to the Netherlands as part of Team GB. Tickets, just £10 to include food, must be purchased in advance from Alison Unwin or via Horsemonkey.

The Chairman and Committee of the E.C.C.T.G. wish to express their very sincere sympathy to the families of three of our Honorary members who have died recently.  Those of us who are fortunate enough to have known these three remarkable ladies  remember them with great respect and fondness; they will be sadly missed.

Rest In Peace Mrs. Julian Leycester Roxby, Mrs. Margaret Garner and Miss Joyce Benson.

Mrs. Julian Leycester Roxby has lived in Cornwall for the last fifteen years or so, but previously had been a keen and active member of the Club for many years.  Those of us who jumped at Lanni’s will recall that Mrs. L.R. and her faithful charger Chancer between them topped one hundred years as they happily and successfully negotiated Jimmy Roocroft’s courses!

Mrs. Margaret Garner was a vital member of the Club’s Social Committee (which alas no longer exists) – delicious home cooking and great organisational skills – some cracking Presentation Suppers in years gone by, and we had a quarter of a century of wonderful cross country competitions at Marton Hall Farm as guests of Bob and Margaret.

Miss Joyce Benson was our Chairman for several years and an internationally known figure in the world of Dressage.  She played a considerable part in establishing and maintaining high standards of Dressage for our Club and region; she organised Open Dressage Competitions at her home at Little Budworth and introduced the first Grand Prix in this area.  Mr. Bryan Struss, past President, a close friend of Joyce and her sisters, has written an obituary for her. Joyce’s family would like to thank members and former members of the ECCTG for their support at this difficult time.  There were those who attended or were represented at the funeral and also those who sent messages of condolence;  all helped them to get through this unexpected and very sad period.
