National BRC DTM Championships

Good luck to Jan Yates and The Toft Bard, who are representing the club at the National BRC Dressage to Music Finals this weekend at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.

The finals include junior and senior classes from prelim to elementary, plus pairs and the quadrille selection final so it should be a spectacular display. More details for anyone interested in going along to support Jan or watch the action are available on the BRC website.

Biomechanics and feed talk

Don’t forget to let Gwen know if you want to go to the biomechanics and feed talk  on Weds 26th September. And if you’re undecided – check out this review of the biomechanics practical session you could take part in after the talk;

“I first met Russell from Centaur Biomechanics at the Riding Club talk a few years ago. His insight into equine mechanics was fascinating and a real eye-opener for me. I feel confident on how horses move, but to see for myself how my horses move with me onboard was quite a daunting prospect- would I ever want to ride again?!
I was lucky enough to have two sessions with Russell last month at my squad training. His technique and methods were professional and not invasive. Within minutes of riding a few movements I was able to see myself and my horse on screen. Highlighting specific areas in slow motion enabled me to see how effective/correct my position is or how it can be improved. I could then take this into a discussion and we found analogies to help me improve – combat my looking down mainly!
Within just a short session I could see the difference and can understand how that little adjustments could be an extra mark in a test. It has made me more aware and I have my homework to do!”
