BRC Area 20 Conference – Monday 23rd November

A letter from BRC Chairman Andy Chadwick regarding recent changes and news of the forthcoming area conference;

Area Conference

Mrs. Iris Diamond

It is with great regret that we report the peaceful death of Mrs. Iris Diamond, who with Mrs. Wendy Ashton founded our Club over fifty years ago. Mrs. Diamond was the original Secretary, and hosted competitions at her home near Jodrell Bank; she ensured that turnout, manners and organisation were priorities, and woe betide any member who failed to come up to her high standards. Her example and attention to detail were instrumental in laying the sound foundations for the successes the Club has achieved over the years. Accompanied by her Alsatian Jess and then her successors she played a huge part in ECCTG and then Pony Club activities and gave a lifetime of interest, helpful advice and support. Time took its toll and she eventually moved into a home where she ensured standards were maintained until her amazing one hundred and one years drew to a close. She was supported by her three daughters Marion, Sue and our own Ann (now competing at Advanced Medium with her lovely Ben) and we extend our deepest sympathy to them and to all the family. We will not see her like again, and all who knew her benefited from her strict but kind attitude to life.

Area 20 Novice Winter Dressage Qualifier – Results

Results for the Area 20 dressage on Sunday are here.

Well done to all those who took part, thank you to everyone who helped and good luck to those heading to the championships.

Robert Williams – In Memoriam

The funeral of Robert Williams was held on Monday October 26th. Our chair Alison remembers him fondly;

Rob was an old member of East Cheshire Combined Training Group, and East Cheshire Pony Club. He was an active member of the pony club in his youth representing in both horse trials and dressage, show jumping was never his forte!!! He was on the event team who qualified for the championships at Stoneleigh in 1976 with myself, Peter Gleave and Michael Richardson, the team finishing 5th.
We both joined East Cheshire Combined Training Group and he competed for many years with his wife Marie. He was very much involved in pony club with his children Becky and Tom and the mounted games teams.
Rob played golf, skied, rode horses and bikes, ran his own business (he printed our programme!) was great fun to be around, a real gent and a lovely friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marie, Becky and Tom at this time, Rob your children are such a credit to you and Marie. God bless X
