ECCTG continued their great form in the area horse trials yesterday with one individual and one team qualifying for the championships.
Our sole representative in the 80 – Juliet Foden – made a good start to the day but sadly Molly didn’t enjoy the show jumping so Juliet chose not to run cross country.
The 90 Team of Hannah Barnett, Ki Ashmore, Libby Richards and Sue O’Leary hit rocky waters before the competition had even begun when Sue took a tumble during her last practice session (get well soon Sue!), and Ki’s horse took an uncharacteristic dislike to the solid fences, but Libby’s double clear earned her third place and Hannah’s personal best score of 21 with just a smattering of time penalties to add earned her a place at the championships. Well done Hannah!
In the 100 class, individual rider Ashley Daniel put in a great effort to finish on her dressage score and come away with an 8th rosette.
Our open team of Abi and Alison Unwin, Sophie Jones and Nicki Toomer stormed to victory with individual placings too for Nicki (2nd), Abi (4th) and Sophie (7th). Alison sadly got eliminated on the cross country, but after breaking down on a roundabout on the way there, she was probably pleased just to have made it to the start line!!
Well done and thank you to everyone who took part, and thank you to all the volunteers too. Before the day was out we received a lovely email from the Area organisers complimenting us on our friendly, willing volunteers, who were a real credit to the club. Onwards to the championships!!
